About Us - Mission & Vision

Vision

To rehabilitate and reintegrate the mentally ill persons, particularly from the weaker socio – economic backgrounds, with the mainstream society as socially responsible human beings by restoring their dignity, sense of belonging and human rights.


Mission

  • To provide a holistic therapeutic process towards fulfilling our vision.
  • To promote advocacy on mental health issues and to educate the society to confront the social stigma against the mentally ill and to accept them as fellow human beings with potential resources.
  • To prepare rural and semi urban communities to take responsibility of the mentally ill in their communities.
  • To establish a resource centre for providing opportunities for exposure of students, researchers and other stakeholders on the rehabilitation and reintegration process.
  • To develop and organize training programmes for therapists, students and nurses working in the fields of mental illness issues.
  • To diversify the livelihood training programmes to enable the mentally ill persons to have wider choices of vocations and income generation after being rehabilitated.
  • To strive for formation of suitable platforms of like minded groups for policy level intervention to achieve equal opportunities, protection of rights with special provisions towards establishing an inclusive society.

 

 

Honors & Awards

In March 2007 Paripurnata received the Ladies Study Group Charitable Trust Annual Award: “for its outstanding contribution towards psycho-social rehabilitation of mentally ill, thus socially conferred ostracized women.” Dr. Joyce Siromoni Hon. Secretary of Paripurnta received the 2004 Paul Harrison Award from the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, Chennai.

Further, in 2005, The World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (Indian Chapter) conferred Dr. Joyce Siromoni with the Lifetime Achievement Award, for her vision, inspiration and dedicated work in psychosocial rehabilitation of the mentally ill.
