Achivements

  • A G+2 storied building has been completed in 2006.
  • Accommodation of residents has been 6 at inception in 1992 has now gradually increased to 30 beds strength the occupancy at the present is 25/26.
  • Have been able to evolve a process of rehabilitation, for the 9 months stay and follow-up for 3 years, so that noncompliance of medicine is not a reason for relapse.
  • From Self-employment of individuals at their residence, Intensive Vocational Training has been introduced in 2007, where incense stick making, paped & bori making, sewing and Block printing are taught for another extended period of 6 months, who are interested in learning more.
  • Regular family meet, where on an average 30 families gather to share experience, learn more about mental illness and prepare for initiating a self-help group.
  • The Ex-residents meet regularly twice a year where 18 to 20 ex-residents attend, at a time to share and strengthened each other.
  • Rehabilitated as on 31.03.2009 133 women out of 144 so far admitted which is about 92% success rate.
 

Honors & Awards

In March 2007 Paripurnata received the Ladies Study Group Charitable Trust Annual Award: “for its outstanding contribution towards psycho-social rehabilitation of mentally ill, thus socially conferred ostracized women.” Dr. Joyce Siromoni Hon. Secretary of Paripurnta received the 2004 Paul Harrison Award from the Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, Chennai.

Further, in 2005, The World Association for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (Indian Chapter) conferred Dr. Joyce Siromoni with the Lifetime Achievement Award, for her vision, inspiration and dedicated work in psychosocial rehabilitation of the mentally ill.
